Our commitment
Midwest.Events lists events across the Midwest, and we want anyone to be able to find one, save it, and get there. We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the recognised standard for public websites.
What we have checked
We review the site with automated accessibility scans and by hand, and we fix what those reviews find. Our current work covers:
- Text and buttons that meet minimum colour-contrast levels, including in dark mode.
- Full keyboard use — tabs, filters, the event drawer, and pop-up dialogs all close with Escape.
- Page structure and labels that screen readers can follow, with a skip link to the results.
- Animation that steps back when your device asks for reduced motion.
- No third-party trackers, adverts, or sales on this site.
Where we still fall short
We are not perfect yet. Event descriptions, prices, and opening times come from the people and organisations who submit them, so some listings are thinner than others, and a few details can be out of date. A small number of pages still carry layout notes that automated tools flag, and we are working through them. We re-check the site as it changes.
Need help, or found a barrier?
If anything on this site is hard to read, hard to use with a keyboard, or confusing with a screen reader, tell us and we will help you personally.
Email info@midwest.events and include:
- The web address or page name where the trouble happened.
- What you were trying to do.
- How you use the site — for example a screen reader, magnification, or keyboard only.
If you would rather not use the site at all, write to the same address and we will send the event details you need another way — by email, in plain text, or in larger print. We can do the same for anything you cannot book or save online.
