Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 21, 2026
1. Introduction
Midwest.Events ("Midwest.Events," "we," "us," or "our") is an online platform for discovering events, festivals, attractions, and other activities throughout the Midwest.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you when you use Midwest.Events.
By using Midwest.Events, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We may collect information that you provide directly to us, including:
- Your name
- Email address
- Account information
- Saved events, favorites, chosen interests, and preferences
- Email preferences, including whether you have asked for event reminders or the periodic digest
- Event submissions, including the promoter name, email address, phone number, and organization you provide on the submission form
- Organizer claim requests, including the contact address and any evidence you supply to verify your connection to an event
- Information you provide when contacting us or requesting support
- Other information you choose to provide through the service
Google Sign-In
If you choose to create an account or sign in using Google, Midwest.Events may receive basic information associated with your Google account that you authorize Google to provide to us, such as:
- Your name
- Email address
- Profile image
- A unique Google account identifier
We use this information to create, identify, authenticate, and maintain your Midwest.Events account and provide account-related features.
Midwest.Events does not receive or store your Google password.
We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell Google user data, or use Google user data to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Our access and use of information received from Google is limited to providing and improving the user-facing features of Midwest.Events for which the information was provided.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use Midwest.Events, limited technical and usage information may be collected automatically, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages or events you view, referring pages, and the date and time of your visit.
Cookies and Browser Storage
Midwest.Events stores only the following on your device:
- A measurement cookie (me_vid). A random identifier created by our server, stored for up to one year. It is used only to count each browser once per city so our interest figures are not inflated by repeat visits. It carries no name, email address, or other personal detail.
- A sign-in session. Stored only if you sign in, so you stay signed in between visits.
- Your preferences. Your chosen starting city, filter selections, and preferred calendar application, stored in your browser so the site remembers your choices.
3. How We Measure Interest
We keep a simple count of which cities people pick or browse, and a count of how often basic actions such as saving an event are completed. This tells us where to concentrate our event research.
Each browser is counted once per city, not once per visit. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell any of this information.
There are no third-party trackers on Midwest.Events. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, social media trackers, or similar third-party measurement tools. Everything described here is first-party and stays in our own systems.
If you sign in, the measurement identifier for that browser is associated with your account so that saved-city information stays consistent. You can ask us to delete that association, or to opt out of interest measurement entirely, by writing to info@midwest.events. Clearing your browser's cookies also removes the identifier.
4. How We Use Information
